Conducting Skills 2
This module will develop your conducting technique if you’ve mastered the basic skills covered in Conducting Skills 1.
In this module, you’ll be taking part in a conducting lesson with Sian Edwards, Head of Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music. If you want to move beyond basic beat patterns and explore ways to develop the expression of your conducting style, you’ll find it here.
This module will cover:
- Conducting in one
- Conducting in 6/8
- Conducting in 12/8
- Conducting in two
- Changing tempo and rhythms
- Conveying character in slower and faster music
- Using the other hand
- Ending pieces
You will be asked to physically participate in practical conducting activities throughout this module and given opportunities to reflect on your own practice.
This module will take about three hours to complete.
What you will need:
- Speakers or headphones
- Webcam, video camera or phone camera
- Internet access
